Spied: Jaguar J-Pace Flagship Crossover With Diesel-Electric Powertrain

The new Jaguar F-Pace is recently start touching the dealerships, meanwhile,  the British carmaker has started development of its yet-to-be-named crossover which will be set to slide above the current F-Pace. This new crossover unofficially named as J-Pace, trying it to the flagship XJ sedan in the same manner as F-Pace is to the XF.

At the first sight, it appears like a covered F-Pace, but after having a closer look you will see an extended wheelbase. One of the notable updates is rear door’s cutline. No official details have been revealed yet, but most probably the new J-Pace will share the platform with Range Rover.

Considering the earlier reports, This new crossover will be offered in standard and extended wheelbase configuration. The reports also explain its mechanical terms, the J-Pace will be offered V6 and V8 engine option, a plug-in hybrid option and other higher performance based variants can also be expected.

According to the snapped images, this new crossover’s fuel type is electric diesel i.e. diesel hybrid, featuring a 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine, working with an electric motor.

The new crossover is still in its earlier phase of development, so we cannot expect its launch anytime soon. This new J-Pace will probably hit the market sometime in 2019 and the giant automobile markets like the USA, Europe and China will be its first receivers.
