All-New Hyundai Verna Crosses Overs 20,000 Bookings; Likely to Get Price Hike

The 2017 Hyundai Verna that hit the Indian automotive market on August 22, 2017, has successfully garnered over 20,000 bookings landmark within around two and half months. These booking figures were 7000 in a week post its launch while the pre-bookings have already started at the beginning of August month. In September, the bookings recorded by Hyundai were 15,000. And now, the company has garnered over 20,000 confirmed bookings for the new sedan. As per the automaker, the new sedan is gaining 45 percent of the overall sales from the top-end trim and 25 percent share is being provided by the automatic trims.

At the time of launch, Hyundai promises that the only first 20,000 customers will be availed by introductory price sticker and later on the prices will be increased. However, there are no official words from the carmaker since now, still, the hike in fifth generation Verna can be observed as per the Hyundai’s words.

On the rivalry front, the all-new Hyundai Verna take on with the rivals such as the Honda City and the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz in the segment. As per a calculation, the average monthly sales of these sedans hover around 4-6k units where the Verna is in leading position since its launch.

Mechanically, the 2017 Verna is being offered with two engine options 1.6-litre Gamma Dual VTVT petrol and 1.6-litre U2 CRDi diesel. The former one is capable of generating the peak power and torque, of 123 PS at 6,400 rpm and 15.4 kgm (151.02 Nm) of torque at 4,850 rpm respectively. While the 1.6-litre U2 CRDi diesel engine generates 28 PS at 4,000 rpm and 26.5 kgm (259.88 Nm) of torque from 1,500-3,000 rpm. Transmission duties are under the consideration of 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Available in E, EX, SX, SX (O) and SX+ trims, the 2017 Hyundai Verna have 12 different configurations equally divided petrol and diesel engine models. On the features front, it gets projector headlamps with LED DRL & positioning lamps, 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, LED tail lamps, automatic climate control, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 3.5-inch driver information display, Arkamys sound system and ventilated seats. In the standard fitment, the new Verna gets ISOFIX child seat mounts, Dual-front airbags, and ABS. Also, six airbags, reverse parking sensors, and rear camera are also being offered by the automaker.
