Aprilia to Launch Two New Motorcycles in India in Mid-2017

Piaggio-owned Italian motorcycle manufacturer, Aprilia is all geared to introduce two new motorcycles in India in mid-2017 (in the month of July-August). Both the motorcycles will represent different biking genre, as reported, one will be a naked streetfighter, the Shiver 900. While, the other will avail them who are fond of dual-sport adventure bikes, the Dorsoduro.

In the international markets, the Shiver 900 and the Dorsoduro 900 had already been added to the product portfolio, last year, owing to replace the 750cc variants of both the prototypes. Whilst, Indian biking sector, will see the arrival of the Shiver in Aprilia family, as the Dorsoduro is already benefiting the 1200cc displacement category in the country.

If mechanicals is being considered, the Shiver 900 and the Dorsoduro 900 both powered by 896cc, V-twin motor. As claimed, the mill is capable of producing 95.2hp of maximum power at 8,750rpm and 90Nm of towering torque at 6,500rpm.

Developed on trellis-type steel tubes screwed on aluminium side plates, along with separable rear sub-frame, the motorcycles sports a 41mm Kayaba inverted front forks and an adjustable rear monoshock to take care suspension. Whereas, 320mm dual discs up front with four-piston Brembo calipers and a single 240mm disc incorporated with a single piston Brembo caliper at the rear are responsible for braking. The propelling wheel setup of 17-inch, six-spoke cast aluminium are utterly unlike from the 750s’ in design and weight as they are much lighter.

The electronic package for the bikes is full of ride supporting attributes including ABS and the switchable traction control as standard fitment. The Shiver will get a single way attachment while the Dorsoduro will gain a three-way switchable traction control. Other than this, there will be a three power modes- sport, touring and rain, which tune the power delivery as per the selected mode. For smartphone connectivity, the manufacturer has added a Bluetooth-enabled infotainment system.

In the Indian motoring world, the Shiver 900 and the Dorsoduro 900 will knock their head with the Ducati Monster 821 and the Hypermotard 939. The motorcycles are expected to price in between Rs 13-14 lakh ex-showroom, as they will land on Indian soil through CBU channel all the way from Italy.
