Audi is calling off 1.16 million vehicles globally due to an electric coolant pump can short-circuit or overheat because of pump moisture and induce a fire risk. Audi mentioned to U.S. regulators that calling off includes 2012-2015 Audi A6 vehicles, 2013-2016 Audi A4 Sedan, Audi Q5 vehicles, A5 Sedan, 2013-2017 Audi A5 Cabriolet and A4 Allroad vehicles along with 2.0-liter Turbo FSI engines.
Udo Ruegheimer, a spokesman for Audi in Germany, mentioned that around 1.16 million vehicles are called off globally by the company.
Audi says that the pump can be impeded by debris coming from the cooling system, although there is no news yet for rashes or injuries concerning this issue.
As per the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in the United States, at the dealerships, they will change the pumps but there is no news regarding the availability of the parts till yet.
In the US only, 342,000 vehicles are recalled for replacement of pumps. The Audi said that it was not the case of a breakdown in other countries of the affected vehicles. In a row, this is a second time when the company called off the vehicle for pump issue.
In January 2017, Volkswagen AG's luxury unit Audi called off the vehicles from the same group in the US in order to revise the software because the power supply to the coolant pump could be blocked in case the pump is blocked by debris.
