Audi to Recall 36,500 Cars in India Owing to Emission Issue

Earlier we have witnessed that the most renowned automobile group Volkswagen was found with the high emission level issue. The company had also admitted that they took some wrong steps to pass government emission test in the United States. For that reason, the VW group had to go through a difficult phase when its sales declined considerably and heavy penalty was imposed on the company. As of now, the news is all around that Volkswagen's subsidiary Audi has started recalling 36,500 units in India that are equipped with the EA 189 engines.

Mr. Joe King, Head of Audi India, at the time of speaking to Autocar Professional stated, “We have a software upgrade to be rolled out via a service camp that will start shortly, which will update the car.”

If we talk about the records, about 1,98,500 cars have been recalled by Volkswagen, 88,700 cars from Skoda and now 36,500 units from Audi, which were affected by the same emission issue. All these models are being manufactured during the time period of 2008 to December 2015 and available with several trim option like 1.2-litre, 1.5-litre, 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre across many cars namely Skoda Octavia, Superb, Laura, Fabia, Rapid, Yeti, Volkswagen Polo, Vento, Jetta, Passat and Audi A3, Q3, A4 and Q5.
