Benelli 402S: Things to Know about Pocket-Friendly Power Cruiser

The power cruising segment is fresh or in its initial stages as it has availability of countable options in the Indian market. Ducati Diavel is an elder member in this family which possess a powerful 1200cc engine. Yet the Bajaj Dominar 400 in the sub-500cc segment is trying its level best to establish with hyper riding qualities. Now, we are expecting to see an all-new pocket-friendly cruiser from legendary Italian giant, Benelli, which is going to start its second inning in the country. Benelli 402S, which is a compact power cruiser, expected soon. Here, we are going to have a keen observation on this upcoming flagship.

Design:

Apparently, the Benelli 402S is a carbon copy of Ducati Diavel, a toned avatar. In terms of design and styling, the majority of its components are reminiscent of the Diavel including teardrop fuel tank, chunky radiator shrouds, an exposed trellis frame and double-barrel exhaust. While at the rear section, the Benelli 402S gets a single difference of side indicators which are placed below on either side of the tail.

The pillion seat seems more like an aesthetic element instead of a functional one. The aspects like a skull-shaped LED headlamp, exhaust setup and its compact size make it stand apart from the Ducati Diavel. At the instrument console, an all-digital trendy unit conveys ride related information.

While the fuel tank capacity of 16 litres offers a hassle free long run on this touring bike.

The Benelli 402 S is based on a tube trellis frame which gets suspended on 41mm upside-down front forks and rear monoshock with preload adjustability. The suspension setup offers travel distance of 125mm at the front and 45mm at the rear.

The stopping responsibilities on the cruiser will be managed by twin 260mm discs up front and a single 240mm disc at the rear which are clamped with coupled with four-piston and twin-piston calipers respectively. It runs on 17-inch alloy wheels shod up with 120/70 section tyre at the front and 160/60 section tyre at the rear.
