BMW G 310 GS Adventure Spied: If Launches takes on Royal Enfield Himalayan

BMW’s small-capacity motorcycles, the G 310 GS and its streetfighter sibling, the G 310 R are much-awaited models from German bike maker stable in India. Even, both of these bikes are in talks among the Indian biking fanatics quite earlier than the BMW Motorrad’s debut in the country last year. Since their first appearance in front of Indian crowd, both the motorbikes were put forward to launch, though the launch gets delayed.

Recently, BMW G 310 GS Motorcycle was spotted loaded in a truck during its transit between Chennai and Bengaluru. That suggests an early arrival of adventure tourer in the segment that has a vast room to expand in the market. Also, the announcement made by brand at the 2018 Auto expo to introduce both of these bikes in the second half of 2018 fortifies these rumours.

As of now, the adventure biking segment has an undefeated rival the Royal Enfield Himalayan in this engine displacement. The BMW G 310 GS launch will pose a fierce competition against this most affordable adventure tourer from the Chennai-based bikemaker. BMW is renowned globally for rolling out A-Class products, people rely on the products offered by the German automaker. Still, the point that will matter a lot in competition is an aggressive price tag of the G 310 GS. As it plays an important role in the market like India, where people seeks for budget-friendly products.

However, the prices are not revealed yet, though the expectations suggest, the G 310 GS will carry a price sticker of around INR 3 lakhs. Apart from the Royal Enfield Himalayan adventure, the motorcycle will also lock horns with another opponent, the Kawasaki Versys X-300 in the segment.

Apparently, equipped with features such as shared styling from the bigger R 1200 GS sibling, edgy tank extensions, a beak-like front fender and a luggage rack at the rear, BMW G 310 GS seem a complete adventure tourer. Furthermore, the availability of alloy wheels and dual-purpose Metzeler Tourance tyres enhances the off-road capability of the motorcycle.

In terms of drivetrain, both the G 310 GS and the G 310 R shares a similar 313cc, liquid-cooled engine unit. The mill is capable of generating 34bhp and transmitting 28Nm to the rear wheel via a mated six-speed gearbox.
