BMW R 1200 GS Boasts Up India Sales

BMW Motorrad, which officially started its operations in India in April month this year, has till now dispatched around 150 motorcycles across the country. And, a big part of this total includes the sale of brand’s brand’s promising adventure tourer, the BMW R 1200 GS. The bike and its top end variant the BMW R 1200 GS Adventure cumulatively shares 60 percent part of BMW Motorrad’s overall sales in India. Both of these models are three different variants and their price fall in the vicinity of Rs 15.90 lakh (ex-showroom) to Rs 21.40 lakh (ex-showroom). The standard R 1200 GS is priced at Rs 15.90 lakh (ex-showroom), the R 1200 GSA price starts from at Rs 17.50 lakh (ex-showroom). While the GSA Pro variant carries an expensive price sticker of Rs 21.40 lakh (ex-showroom).

Besides above-mentioned adventure motorcycle, the BMW’s S 1000RR superbike model also received much appreciation from the Indian litre class sportbike lovers. As sources revealed, the owners of bikes such as Honda CBR 1000R Fireblade have wished to upgrade their sportbike from top-spec BMW sportbike and many have already booked for the S 1000RR.

Here in India, the German bike manufacturer has its complete product lineup on sale, including bikes from five different categories such as Sports, Touring, Roadster, Heritage, and Adventure. Currently, all BMW bikes hit the Indian dealership through completely built units (CBUs) all the way from Berlin, Germany.

Other than this, the "made in India" BMW G 310 R, will be the smallest bike from German bike maker under 650cc, which is being manufactured at the TVS Motors production capacity in Hosur and likely to be launched sometimes in 2018. The co-partner TVS will also use the same technology to develop motorcycle and one of the BMW’s tech illustration, which is known as the TVS Apache RR 310S is under consideration to hit the country soon.

If the price of the BMW G 310 R is concerned, there are no words from the BMW Motorrad stable. But the expectations are it will be a premium motorcycle tagged with the price sticker in the range of Rs 2.5-Rs 2.75 lakh. In this price range, the BMW G 310R will fight against the likes of KTM 390 Duke and Kawasaki Z250 in India.

Altogether, the company is also focusing on expanding its reach to a wider range of audience by introducing new dealerships in coming 10-12 months, while, Delhi will see the emergence of an all new BMW Motorrad showroom in September 2017. Currently, there are four BMW Motorrad outlets in throughout the country in cities like Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, and Ahmedabad.
