The next generation Mercedes E Class has now been officially disclosed in the form of images as well as other details. Targeting younger buyers this time, the automaker has redesigned the saloon so as to give it a far more dynamic look as compared to its predecessor. Discussing the overall looks, let's start with the dimensions first. The new E-Class is going to be extended in overall length by 43 mm, which makes it 4923 mm long. The wheelbase has grown by 65 mm, thereby reaching 2939 mm that shortens its overhangs. Further, it is 2 mm narrower and 6 mm lower than the outgoing version. The navigation and infotainment system gets a touchpad control just like a smartphone that are mounted on both spokes of the steering wheel. Voice control and wireless charging are some other facilities available in the car.

Engine

Mechanically, the new E-Class will come with a choice between diesel and petrol motors that will be launched one by one gradually. At first, there will be E 220d variant fitted with a 2 litre, 4-cylinder unit along with E 200 trim with a 2 litre petrol unit. In summer, E350d will also arrive, followed by a plug-in hybrid named E 350e. It will be joined by a fleet friendly diesel mill by early 2017 and finally, AMG E 63 will be rolled out as the most powerful option in the lineup. In all these models, a 9G-Tronic automatic gearbox will be found that is derived from the GLC Class SUV.
