Confirmed: KTM to Manufacture 390 Adventure in India

A big announcement for the adventure enthusiasts that the KTM 390 Adventure is under construction and will make its debut in Indian biking sector. Bajaj Auto MD-Rajiv Bajaj has officially confirmed the fact meanwhile the launch of the 2017 KTM RC twins yesterday. The 2017 MY KTM RC390 and KTM RC 200 have received a number of updations on cosmetics and on technological ends.

Speaking about the highly anticipated KTM 390 Adventure, Rajiv Bajaj said that designs for the forthcoming adventure motorcycle were finalized only yesterday as KTM CEO Sefan Pierer was in India. Instead of being in the pipeline for a long time, the KTM 390 Adventure did not get ready to make its presence in the last generation. Now, the platform of the next generation KTM Duke, which offers flexibility and adaptability to build a naked (Duke range), Supersport (RC series) and now it will exercise to build up an Adventure offering.

Mr. Amit Nandi, Head of Operations, Bajaj Pro-biking said, "After a lot of discussions, there has been a steady requirement for this market for the 390 Adventure and it's finally happening." Moreover, he also stamped the fact by saying that the new 390 Adventure will be manufactured in India and will be exported to other international markets. However, the launch date for the motorcycle is not confirmed yet.

New KTM 390 Duke

Spotted number of times while its test rounds in Europe, the KTM 390 Adventure is likely to borrow an array of components from its naked sibling the 390 Duke. and the similar 373.2cc single-cylinder powertrain of the said 390 Duke will perform the powering duties with some refinements to improve torque output. As the upcoming is an adventure motorcycle, it is expected to equip with a long travel suspension setup, disc brakes, ABS, ride-by-wire (with multiple riding modes).

As per the KTM, the launch of new 390 Adventure is yet to be finalized. But, a few rumors suggest, the bike could make its debut global appearance at the 2017 EICMA Motorcycle Show in November. Whereas, the Indian introduction of this tourer is expected sometime in 2018. On the battleground, a number of international manufacturers are about to bring their offerings ranging 250-400cc in the segment, include Kawasaki, Suzuki and other. But how many of these will launch their motorcycles in India.
