Dry Run for Odd Even Policy in Delhi to be Conducted on 30th December

Delhi Government is all set to implement the odd-even policy on the roads from January 1, 2016 and before the rule is put to practice on a proper basis, the authorities have decided to conduct a dry run for the same on 30th December, 2015. The run will be like a mock drill and will take place from 8am to 8 pm that is the same timing for the odd-even traffic rule. However, people won't be penalised for any violation on this day.

There has been a lot of debate on the topic regarding the aftereffects and consequences of the policy, but it seems like there's no way out for the Delhiites except to abide by the new laws. However, the authorities have also introduced several other methods in order to cater to the inconvenience caused by the new rule.

A new app named Pooch-O has been launched by the transport department, which enables the commuters to book an auto rickshaw for travelling. Moreover, the government is sure that Metro will successfully handle the situation by commuting a large number of people at one go.

The usual Metro frequency which is 2,000 plus is likley to reach 3,000 plus from 1-15 January. Moreover, the authorities have ensured a special bus service from Delhi to Noida and Gurgaon. The number of buses on the road will be boosted by 3,000, thereby handling the situation to a considerable extent.

The air pollution in New Delhi has risen much above the danger sign and hence, various plans have been formulated. Apart from the odd-even rule, the registration of diesel vehicles exceeding 2,000 cc has also been banned. After this, Mahindra cars like XUV500 and Scorpio have been affected to the maximum because the automaker is known to offer only diesel engine in its SUVs for the Indian market.
