According to some recent reports, General Motors India is likely to introduce an upgraded facelift version of the current hatchback Chevrolet Beat. This new version might come with a lot of interior as well as exterior changes. The exact date is yet to be announced by the company for this facelift hatchback, but it is expected to be unveiled in the year 2017. Reportedly, this model will get the same M300 platform as its base just like the current beat model. Apart from this, there will be a 7-inch touchscreen facility for infotainment system.
Recently, the new 2016 Chevrolet Spark has also been launched by the company. However, it will not get launched in Indian market, as per the reports. An official from the company was quoted saying, “The new spark is a car for developed markets and the cost structure may be too high to make it viable in the very cost-competitive Indian market”. This model will be available with an M2 platform, powered by a 1.4 litre all-aluminium Ecotec petrol engine.
Coming to the next generation Beat model, it will offer a 1litre, three-cylinder petrol engine. Along with this, a 1 litre small diesel engine will also be available exclusively for the Indian market. The rest of the details are yet to be disclosed by the company. All we can say is the idea of coming up with a facelift version of Chevrolet Beat is hinting towards the company's attempt to attract a larger customer base for its hatchback segment.
