Ford India Cuts Figo and Aspire Production Due To Poor Sales Graph

Ford India has been doing good with its EcoSport in the Indian market. The automaker found it difficult to maintain the same pace with the recently launched Figo and Aspire models. In this highly competitive auto market, both the models turned out to be underperformers in their respective segment.

The reports say that the monthly production for the two models- Ford and Aspire have been reduced to 10,800 units. Earlier, they were produced at average 20,000 units a month. Now, the average production comes to 6,500 units a month. The Figo model faces a strong competition with some prominent models like Maruti Swift and Grand i10. While, the Aspire gets stands against Honda Amaze and Maruti Suzuki Dzire.

The sales charts from FY October 2015 to March 2016 reveal that Figo has experienced 60 percent of sales drop. While, the Aspire has witnessed sales drop up to 74 percent during the same tenure. According to Ford spokesperson,“The Indian automotive industry is going through a weak consumer demand. We are unable to attract consumers after offering all kinds of sustainable discounts and offers.”

Earlier this month, we already saw Ford announcing a huge price cut up to Rs 1.12 lakh for the EcoSport, in order to maintain a healthy competition with the newly launched Maruti Vitara Brezza.
