GST Effect: India Two Wheeler Market Providing Price Cut and Discount Offers

GST implementation date is getting closer and we can see it’s impact of Indian automobile market. Many leading two wheeler dealers in India are offering discounts and price cuts on their models and accessories ahead of GST. The GST (Goods and Service Tax), as we all know is going to be implemented from 1 July, 2017 in India and will change the prevailing price system across the country. In lieu to minimise the loss due to GST, following discounts are being offered by the leading auto majors of the nation:

Bajaj

Bajaj Auto

Bajaj Auto dealerships across the country is offering discount of up to Rs 4,500 on its complete range. The discounted price will depend upon the selected model and the location of the dealership also.

Royal Enfield

The premium motorcycle manufacturer Royal Enfield has also announce a price cut of up to Rs 2,300 on its entire lineup ahead of GST. Moreover, the company’s spokes person also said the the price cut will be available depending upon the model and its location of purchase.

Ducati

The selected Ducati outlets across the country are also offering 25-50 per cent discount on the accessories of its premium models. The company has announced that the pre-GST offer will be available only for a limited time period and will vary from dealer to dealer along with the model. Interestingly, some of the dealerships are also offering 50 percent discount on an Akrapovic slip-on for the Panigale and the Multistrada touring pack.

Honda

Honda Motorcycles outlets across the country are expected to slash out the prices of its entire range by 3-5 percent. The company is not offering any pre-GST discount, but will drop down the price of its entire two-wheeler lineup by 3-5 percent.

Y S Guleria, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India said, “The price cut will differ from state to state and product to product. We expect it to range between 3 to 5 per cent on an average. Whatever benefit there is, we will pass on to the consumer.”

These are the companies which have announced discounts and price cuts ahead and after GST. Apart from them, TVS India has also announced a price drop for its entire lineup but the new pricings are still a mystery.
