Guy Martin Affirms to Attempt New Land Speed Record at Bonneville

On the verge of returning to the legendary salt flats of Bonneville with a new achievement, Guy Martin and Triumph Motorcycles have officially affirmed to make an attempt in order to break the motorcycle world land speed record in the USA. In case they succeed, it would set a new record over the current one of 606.69 kmpl achieved by Rocky Robinson in September 2010 using his Top-oil ack attack streamliner.

In an attempt to beat the existing record, Guy Martin would be using a purpose built 1000 BHP Triumph Infor Rocket Streamliner. An Isle of Man TT Racer and multiple speed record holder, Martin will get aid from Infor (cloud applications provider worldwide) and Belstaff (clothing brand).

Guy Martin Triumph Motorcycles New Attempt

Let’s get a bit technical here!! The Triumph Infor Rocket will get the controls from a carbon Kevlar monocoque construction having two turbocharged Triumph Rocket III engines that when merged, give a power of 1000 BHP at 9000 RPM. Assembled completely in the dimension of 25.5 feet length, 2 feet width, and a 3 feet height, the jet takes speed via methanol. The guy will run the streamlined motorcycle in the Division C genre.

When it comes to breaking the records, Triumph has created history parallel to other record breakers comprising of Devil’s Arrow, Texas Cee-gar, Dudek Streamliner, and Gyronaut X1- the ex-rocket, which achieved a top speed of 245.667 mph (395.28 km/h).

“I can’t wait to take the Triumph Infor Rocket Streamliner onto the salt at Bonneville for the first time this summer," said Guy Martin "The Triumph engineers have built an amazing machine, giving us the very best chance to beat the two-wheeled land speed record.”

We wish all the very best to Triumph Motorcycles and Guy Martin for this crazy yet interesting attempt and do hope that they would get lucky to achieve their desired aim.
