Harley Davidson Recalls 10,500 Units of Street 500 and 750

Harley Davidson Motor Company has announced a recall of its two affected models, Street 750 and Street 500. The recall has been affected the 10,580 units on that both models, Street 500 and Street 750, that were manufactured between 20 January 2014 to 24 June 2015 in the United Stated and February 24, 2014 through July 15, 2015 in Bawal, India. The statement released by National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to solve the problem. The recall has been issued to rectify the issue of the motorcycles' fuel pump.

According to a report by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, USA, this can happen when the fuel level is below three litres, even before the low fuel indicator light comes on. The flaw can briefly interrupt the fuel supply, leading to a short loss of power followed by abrupt restoration of power. Furthermore, Harley-Davidson has notified the owners and the dealers to install a new fuel pump assembly free of charge. The recall began on 21 August 2015.

Harley-Davidson India, meanwhile, has also released a statement on the same, “Harley-Davidson confirms that it has voluntarily recalled model year 2015 Harley-Davidson Street family vehicles, of which the XG750 model is available in India. We identified that some of the motorcycles may have a poor seal at the fuel pump inlet, and have announced the recall in the interest of customer safety. We are committed to correcting this issue and are working with our dealers in India to notify customers and request them to bring their motorcycles in for inspection."
