Honda's Festive Season 160cc Motorcycle not build upon CX-01 Concept

Earlier this year, the HMSI (Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India) has showcased the Honda CX-01 Concept at the Delhi Auto Expo, 2014 and along with that the company made an announcement to introduce a motorcycle based upon the CX-01 concept during the festive season in the Indian market. But recently, the Vice President of Sales and Marketing at HMSI, Mr. Y. S. Guleria has confirmed that, the new 160cc motorcycle will not be originated from the CX-01 concept. He also mentioned that the company will work on the concept sometimes later for any other motorcycle.

Honda will be having its own tactics to be in the automotive competition in the Indian market. The company just wanted to be a tough competitor in every segment. As, we all know that Honda Activa has created its own success story of being the first most-purchased scooter in India.

The upcoming 160cc motorcycle will be a mid-range motorcycle, which is arranged above CB Trigger but below CBR 150R, in terms of power figures. It is believed that the 160cc motorcycle will be capable enough to give a total power output of around 15-16 BHP and a maximum torque of 12.5Nm. This commuter bike will get its power from a four-stroke, single-cylinder engine, which will make the upcoming motorcycle much sportier than the existing series of 150cc. The project worker said, "Honda has been largely struggling in the 150cc segment for a very long time, it has taken sizeable gaps in updating the existing model(s) as well as introducing a new model, and the latest was the CB Trigger last year."
