Hyundai i20 Turbo Edition Introduced in UK

The South Korean auto giant, Hyundai has launched Turbo Edition in the UK of its much anticipated hot hatch, i20. The updates are not just limited to the engine, the Turbo edition receives some stylish cosmetic updates over the regular model as well.
The sports car is already one of the most selling premium hatches from the brand across the globe, and now by adding a turbocharged engine option, Hyundai is looking forward to seeing a bump in its number of sells.

Beneath the front end, the new Hyundai i20 Turbo edition features a 1.0-litre T-GDi turbocharged 3-cylinder petrol engine, that churns out a maximum power of 100 PS at 4,500 rpm while the peak torque of 171 Nm comes out at 1,500-4,000 rpm. This motor comes paired with the 5-Speed manual gearbox. This power boost edition has a CO2 emission figure of 104 gm/km. Hyundai claims fuel efficiency of 22.22 kmpl for this version.

Besides this, Hyundai also offers this 1.0-litre T-GDi motor with a 6-speed manual transmission as well. With this configuration, the engine produces a maximum power of 120 PS at 6,000 rpm while the torque remains unchanged.

Moving to the exteriors, the 16-inch alloy wheels and exterior colour options are new to offer. The Hyundai i20 is now available in six outside body colour options - Polar White, Aqua Sparkling, Sleek Silver, Stardust Grey, Phantom Black and Red Passion.

The interior of the car features a black or grey theme and leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel.
Technology-wise features of the i20 Turbo Edition include dusk sensor automatic headlamps, Cruise control with speed limiter, a rear view camera, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment with satellite navigation.

The new Hyundai i20 Turbo Edition comes with a price tag of £12,975 (INR 11.33 lakhs). And will go on sell in the UK by the end of this month.
Considering the Indian market, the Hyundai i20 is also a leading car of its segment in India as well. But there is no official word from the South Korean brand, whether it will introduce the turbo edition in the country or not. In the hatchback segment, Maruti Suzuki will soon launch the Baleno RS with a 1.0-litre turbocharged engine.
