Hyundai Kona Secures Five-Star Euro NCAP Rating

During the brand-new batch of crash tests of Euro NCAP, Hyundai Kona SUV has secured five-star rating and with this addition of new accolade, Kona SUV becomes one of the safest variants available in this segment.

The rival to Kona SUV, Euro-spec Nissan Juke with all versions has also secured the five-star rating with ensuring 85% in child occupant safety, 87% in adult occupant safety, 60% in safety assistance systems, and 62% in pedestrian safety.

The Hyundai Kona which is tested for the country in the all-electric model instead of the petrol and diesel variants that were previously tested in India.
With the addition of an array of driver assistance systems, which is named as SmartSense by Hyundai, the tested models have automatic emergency braking, lane keep-assist, rear cross-traffic alert, a driver alert and blind-spot detection. Furthermore, the Hyundai Kona which was evaluated has nine airbags.

Hyundai’s Kona EV, which was unveiled at Frankfurt motor show 2017 is speculated to launch in the global market at the 2018 Geneva motor show in March. The SUV will be powered by a more strong variant of the all-electric Ioniq’s 28kWh battery which is able to churn out a maximum power of 120hp and a peak speed of 280km. The company is aiming a range of around 384km for the Hyundai Kona electric version.

The under-production variant for the Indian market is about to showcase at the upcoming Auto Expo 2018. It will be showcased with a new electric sedan at the event of Hyundai’s stall, with a new hatchback replacing the Eon and an i20 facelift.
