India-Spec Renault Kaptur Rendered with Some Customization Accessories

French auto giant, Renault has been in journals since quite some time for its all-new Kaptur 7-seater crossover, which is also called as the successor of the Captur. The crossover is being included among the list of vehicles that the automaker plans to introduce outside Europe, however, Russia is the one who is currently enjoying the beast under its fleet. According to the media reports and rumors, the India-bound model could arrive sometime next year. A couple of images of the same have also been rendered online showing some extra customization features for both inside and out.

As per the details about the accessories, the Kaptur can be customised with a host of exterior upgrades where a number of paint schemes can be opted along with a contrasting color for the roof.  Depending upon the exterior color of the car, you can go for a stylish sticker in order to give a more promising visual appeal. In addition, there is also option for the 17-inch dual-tone ‘Explore’ alloy wheels altogether with some other cycle parts such as body-toned wing mirrors, side mouldings, front pad on the radiator grille, and tailgate fitted applique.

Based on the Duster platform, it is an extended version of the Captur and slightly increased in its dimensions with 230 mm in length, 35 mm in width and 47 mm in height and measures 4333 mm, 1813 mm and 1613 mm respectively. In order to provide a more spacious cabin, the wheelbase has also been expanded by 68 mm and measures 2674 mm.

Mechanically, the Russian-based Kaptur is available with two petrol engine options. The lighter is powered by a 1.6-litre four-cylinder unit generating 114 PS of power at 5500 rpm and 156 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm, while the heavier has been equipped with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder unit and can pull the car with a power of 143 PS at 5750 rpm and 195 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm. It is not confirmed yet, but, both the engines could be mated with a standard 5-speed manual transmission or they can go for an automatic box as well. Moreover, the heavier engine could also be packed with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 4-speed automatic unit.

With the information accessible, the Kaptur will first make its presence in Brazil in the first half of 2016 followed by India in October 2017. Pricing aspects are also unknown to us, they might fit in the bucket of INR 13 Lakhs to INR 15 Lakhs (Ex-showroom) and will go up against the crossover like Honda BR-V and Mahindra XUV500.
