Finally, the day has come!! The American luxury SUV maker, Jeep has reached the Indian soil with its amazing players - the Wrangler Unlimited, the Grand Cherokee and the Cherokee SRT. All the units are brought up here in the country via the CBU route. Those who were keenly waiting for the aforementioned units can now finally get a sigh of relief. Prices of all the units (Ex-showroom, New Delhi) are listed below:
Jeep Wrangler Unlimited - INR 71.59 Lakhs
Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited - INR 93.64 Lakhs
Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit - INR 1.03 Crore
Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT - INR 1.12 Crore
Limited and Summit are powered by a 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel engine that generates 243 PS of power at 3600 rpm and 570 Nm of torque at 2000 rpm. An eight-speed automatic transmission with steering-mounted paddle shifters is mated to the engine. Both the trims are also coupled to an Active 4WD facility supported by Selec-Terrain, while the later comes with a limited slip differential.
The Grand Cherokee SRT has got a most powerful and biggest V8 motor in India, which comes attached with a hulking 6.4-litre Hemi V8 petrol engine. Having this mechanism, the engine is capable of running the unit with a massive power of 468 Bhp and a peak torque of 630 Nm. It is also packed with an 8-speed transmission box as of the regular Cherokee.
At last, the Wrangle Unlimited, an entry level unit of the automaker, which is fitted with a 2.8-litre CRD turbocharged four cylinder diesel engine, producing 200 PS of power and 460 Nm of torque. A 5-speed automatic transmission box is there to help the engine. The first outlet is ready and operational in Ahmedabad. By the end of this year, Jeep India will expand its presence in 9 cities with 10 outlets.
