Mahindra KUV 100 Likely to be Upgraded Soon

Mahindra launched its KUV 100 hatchback exactly a year ago from now. In the last month of 2016, the car faced a massive decrement in sales, as the company sold only 1953 units in December as compared to its highest sales in the month of March, which was 5157 units.

The major fall in the sale was just because of its excessive fuel consumption in the micro-hatchback segment. The company claimed 18.23 kmpl of mileage with the car, which is actually misleading as these figures were obtained under laboratory conditions without switching the air-conditioner on. The air-conditioner of the hatchback is coupled with an over-specified compressor for better cooling, and that puts an additional load on the 1.2-liter engine of the car, which leads to effect the fuel consumption.

For this, the company now has reengineered the KUV’s AC system and tweaked the throttle map and Engine Control unit for better fuel efficiency. Still, it is not clear if the company is also providing ‘Eco’ mode to the petrol variant, just like the diesel model of it.

The second issue on the list is its engine refinement, the KUV 100 users have been regularly complaining about Vibrations filter through the cabin, which basically happens during idle. To overcome this issue Mahindra and Mahindra has decided to change the engine mounts by optimising their ‘sheer’ characteristics and stiffness.

Apart from these, the upcoming model may also get additional upgrades, which includes larger wheels, which will give the KUV 100 a better stance. The new upgraded version of Mahindra KUV 100 will go on sale by the end of this month, and this time company have got a lot of experience with this hatchback. Let’s see how it will perform in front of its greatest competitor Maruti Ignis.
