Mahindra's upcoming offering codenamed S101 has been unveiled digitally along with the announcement of its official name. Finally! It's here! And the name is KUV100! If you are wondering if KUV is for Kompact Utility Vehicle, the answer is no! Actually this K stands for Kool! Well, that's interesting! Wink! And now that the name says it's “Kool”, we hope that the car will also be cool enough. The model will be available in four variants namely K2, K4, K6 and K8. It will be rolled out as a hatchback crossover rather than an SUV, thereby targeting the hatchbacks in India.
Much like the XUV500, this one will also be based on the monocoque platform and will be powered by a range of Falcon engines. There will be both petrol and diesel motors fitted under the hood consisting of a 1.2 litre, three cylinder and a 1.2 litre three-cylinder unit respectively. The former one is tuned to make 82Bhp at 550rpm and 114Nm at 3500 rpm, whereas the latter will be developing 77Bhp at 3750 rpm and 190 Nm between 1750- 2250 rpm. On the safety front, ABS will be offered as a standard feature, while airbags will be available as an option across the range.

At the event, the company has also disclosed that official bookings at the dealerships will start in India from December 19, while the launch is scheduled to take place on January 15, 2016. If sources are to believed, actor Varun Dhawan has been approached to promote the upcoming crossover. Well, we can't predict the future, but hope that after introducing the Tough TUV300, we hope the KOOL KUV100 also gets the similar kind of attention in the market.
