Mahindra S101 Might Carry KUV100 as its Official Name

The speculations regarding Mahindra's upcoming micro SUV model codenamed S101 don't seem to come to an end. Earlier, it was anticipated that it will be named either XUV100 or CUV100. Later, some reports suggested that XUV100 has been confirmed as the official name. And now, a new market report has emerged indicating that the moniker will be KUV100. A website named MotorOctane has revealed the logo of KUV100, which confirms the news. It is not known what this 'K' stands for but if rumours are to believed, it could mean 'Krossover'. Lately, the automaker has been following an alphanumeric pattern for its vehicles like TUV300 and XUV500.

Mechanical Specs:

The upcoming model will be fitted with an all new 1.2 litre petrol motor that has been developed jointly by Mahindra and Ssangyong. Apart from this mill, the mHawk80 diesel unit that has been debuted with the newly launched TUV300 could also be packed under hood of this upcoming model. Power will be transmitted via a five-speed manual gearbox that will be available as a standard unit along with an optional AMT facility.

Based on a monocoque chassis, it it is likely to borrow styling cues from the Italy based design house Pininfarina. Much like the XUV500, it will be carrying elements like 15-inch rims, curvy roofline, projector headlights, electrically adjustable wing mirrors and a prominent bonnet. Discussing the interior, it will receive numerous components like touchscreen audio system, power windows, steering wheel mounted with controls, foldabale central seat, etc. On the safety front, it might receive ABS, EBD and dual airbags as a standard feature throughout the range.
