Mahindra S201 SUV and U321 MPV Likely To Launch in India During Diwali

Mahindra, Automobile Manufacturer has recently announced that it would be planning to launch two new cars in India, dubbed as S201 compact SUV and the U321 MPV before the festive season of 2018. Due to some reasons, S201 SUV and U321 MPV vehicles were not showcased by Mahindra at Auto Expo 2018, which we believe that the car manufacturer will launch them with a big- splash in the coming months. However, Mahindra introduced electric cars at Auto Expo 2018.

Pawan Goenka, who is an MD of Mahindra and Mahindra has confirmed the information of launching these vehicles and said, “We have a couple of refreshes happening in the next 2-3 months. And two big ones – S201 and U321 – which is likely to happen between now and next festive season.”

The S201 is based on SsangYong Tivoli which is a compact SUV, it is already available for purchase in some of the international markets. It is speculated that S201 SUV might come with a 1.2-litre petrol engine and 1.5-litre diesel engine.

A Sub-4m SUV has been spotted in spy testing along with S201. As per the spied images, it seems that a Sub-4m SUV will be distinct from the S201 in terms of appearance, style, interior, and exterior. It seems that S201 will be available in two lengths: the first one is sub-4 meter model and the second is above-4 meters.

 

It is speculated that Mahindra will launch both Tivoli-based SUVs in India during 2019. The S201 will compete with against the likes of Hyundai Creta and the Renault Duster, whereas sub-4m SUV will compete with Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Honda WR-V, Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon

The S201 is considered to be a compact SUV whereas the U321 will be a multi-purpose vehicle and will be having 7-9 seater capacity.

The U321 will not specifically for India as the car manufacturer has already announced that it will be unveiled at the global level.

If the rumors turned out to be true, it is expected that U321 will come with a new 1.6L diesel engine that has been created by both, Mahindra and SsangYong. Mahindra, U321 has been found in spied testing on Indian roads. When Mahindra will launch the U321 in India, it will compete against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga & Renault Lodgy.

Apart from S201 and U321 Mahindra is also planning to introduce the high tech models of Scorpio and the XUV500. The high- tech models could be based on SsangYong platform and will come with new engine which meets BS-VI norms.
