Maruti Suzuki Ciaz to Receive ISOFIX Mounts as Standard Safety Feature

Auto Expo is the biennial show of the Indian automobile industry where a range of revolutionary designs, architectures and engines are brought to display in front of the crowd. Well, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is also one of them which first came at 2014 Auto Expo to a preview of what was lastly going to be a replacement for ageing SX4. Since then, the midsize hybrid sedan has been selling like hotcakes, all thanks to its sleek design and dynamic performance. In order to keep possession popular among the buyers, now the automaker has announced for introducing a new interesting feature in the form of ISOFIX mounts as an additional safety equipment for child occupants.  

ISOFIX Mounts Safety Feature

The name here Isofix is an additional child car seat attachment function found merely in premium segment cars in India. It uses metal bars connectors built into the rear seats of the vehicle and allows it to anchor the child car seat as well as tether straps that confirm it is satisfactorily secured. Once the bars connectors clicked together with anchorage points, the additional child car seat will be secured by a third point thereby the risk of injury will also get minimized in case of an unwanted situation.

In an official statement, Maruti Suzuki India said, “Continuing the strong focus and early adaptability to the safety norms prescribed by the Government, we are making the CIAZ complaint to BNVSAP (Bharat New Vehicle Safety Assessment Program) by implementing ISOFIX.” Further added, “ISOFIX is an international standard for attachment points for child safety seats in passenger vehicles. It would help in providing a more secure and easier way of attaching child seats in Ciaz.”

With such features, Ciaz becomes the first car from the Maruti Suzuki to receive in its brochure list as a standard attachment, while others sibling will possibly house in near future. Some of the Other prominent safety features available with the Ciaz are - Dual Airbags, ABS with EBD, seat belt reminder buzzer for a driver,  reverse parking sensor, seat belt pre-tensioner & force limiters,and reverse parking camera etc.

In terms of the powerhouse, the automaker offers the Ciaz in both the petrol and diesel engine options, where the petrol is powered by a 1.4-litre motor, the diesel unit is packed with a 1.3-litre engine or Smart Hybrid Vehicle from Suzuki (SHVS). The ARAI-certified fuel mileage of the Ciaz Diesel is 28.09 KMPL while the petrol variant  stands at 20.73 KMPL. On the pricing aspects, it lies in the bucket of INR 7.31 Lakhs to INR 10.28 Lakhs. While the entry-level petrol unit starts from INR 7.31 and goes up to INR 10.19 Lakhs, the base model of the Diesel guise is priced at INR 8.23 Lakhs and goes up to a maximum cost of INR 10.28 Lakhs.
