Maruti Suzuki Officially Launches Ciaz SHVS in India

As scheduled, Maruti has finally launched the much talked about hybrid version of its Ciaz model in India. This is the first compact sedan in Indian market to carry a mild hybrid engine and will deliver ARAI rated fuel efficiency ranging between 26.21 to 28.09 kmpl. With this mileage, it has placed itself as the most fuel efficient car in its segment. The automaker has introduced this model with five variants namely- VDi, VDi(O), VDi+, ZDi and ZDi+. The newly launched compact sedan will soon replace the diesel variant of Ciaz that has not been performing well lately in the country.

Maruti Ciaz SHVS Rear End

From outside, this car looks similar to the current petrol version of Maruti Ciaz, but the SHVS badges have been added at the rear end. Besides, the interior has been fitted with refreshed instrument cluster and re-designed controls. Apart from the above mentioned variants, a new trim has been added in both petrol and hybrid versions with the name V(O). this trim is available with various safety features, like ABS, EBD, airbags and a seat-belt pre-tensioner.

SHVS Engine

Mechanically, it will be packed with the 1.3 litre DDiS diesel engine that pumps out 88.4 Hp and 200 Nm output and is coupled to a five-speed manual gearbox. For the SHVS model, the powertrain is accompanied with an Integrated Starter Generator. This facility offers a brake energy recovery system that aids the battery to get charged on its own along with start stop technology and a torque assist unit. Furthermore, the environmentally viable 'Blue technology' fitted in the car will reduce the harmful carbon emissions.
