Maruti Suzuki Sold Out Over 3 Lakh Cars With AGS

Maruti Suzuki India declared to achieve a new milestone as the brand sold out more than 3 lakh AMT models in the country along with Auto Gear Shift (AGS) technology. Automated manual transmission (AMT) technology vehicle of the company was first introduced in 2014 and most of the company model equipped with it as well. Maruti Suzuki India mentions the AGS models' share to the total sales of the company that threefold since 2014-15 FY and now the company plans to sell more than 2-lakh cars along with AGS by end of 2019.

R S Kalsi, Senior Executive Director, Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki India, mentioned the Auto Gear Shift technology, "At Maruti Suzuki, we believe in providing our customers with the best of technology and convenience. The revolutionary Auto Gear Shift technology is one such innovation that offers comfort and ease of driving to the customers with no compromise on fuel efficiency.

It has achieved wide acceptance among customers. Crossing 3-lakh retail sales mark within five years of its introduction is a reflection of the success and consent of the customers for the two-pedal technology. With enhanced awareness and deeper penetration, we aim to sell over 200,000 cars with AGS in 2018-19."

The Auto Gear Shift of the company acquires tested and tried automated manual transmission actuator system taken from Magneti Marelli. The technology comes equipped with 5-speed manual gearbox which is available in most of the company models. Maruti has put efforts to improve the system along with each model and the Vitara Brezza and the new Dzire are evident for this. Now, Maruti Suzuki cars with auto gear shift comprise Ignis, Vitara Brezza, WagonR, Celerio, Dzire, Alto K10, and Swift. The report also shows that 43% Celerio sale is also due to AGS version. Likewise, 17% Dzire and 28% Ignis sales are due to AGS variants.
