Mercedes Announces 2% Price Hike from January, 2016

Just after a few days of BMW's announcement to hike prices, its arch rival Mercedes Benz has also come up with a similar kind of plan for Indian market. The latter is going to raise the prices of all models in the lineup by 2% with effect from 1 January, 2016. The reason for this has been reported to be high cost of inputs alongside high exchange rate. Both Mercedes and BMW are popular luxury brands and any new strategy by one of them makes its obvious for the other one to follow the same.

Commenting on the situation, Mr Roland Folger was quoted, “With rising input costs, we are compelled to make some price adjustments to out product range to protect the investment of our customers in the brand, maintain our premium brand positioning in the market and sustain a profitable business.”
