In early July, Mercedes AMG had teased a video clip with the description, “something fast is coming” that hinted about a new model. And now, the automaker has revealed a camouflaged test mule in some teaser images. This model seems to be the upcoming C63 AMG coupe, which will be unwrapped officially in September at 2015 Frankfurt Auto Show. These images highlight certain portions like the front fascia and wheel of the coupe model. The revealed pictures also point out certain resemblance between the fascia of this disguised model with that of AMG sedan.
However, there are some features that differentiate these two models. The C63 coupe gets larger tires with wide tracks as compared to the sedan model. The former gets 255/35 R19 tires while the latter rides on 245/35 R19 tires. Moreover, the disguised coupe carries side view mirrors on its door while the other one has its wing mirrors equipped near the A-pillar. The rear design is inspired from the S63 AMG coupe model that highlights a quad exhaust system.
Coming to the power house of the upcoming coupe, the source will be a 4 litre, V-8 turbocharged engine. The same engine is equipped in the sedan model that delivers 476 PS and 650 Nm torque for the base spec. In the S version, this powertrain generates 510 PS and 700 Nm of output. A seven-speed DCT gearbox is available which sends power to the rear wheels. The acceleration offered is 0-100 km/h in less than 4 seconds.
The AMG C63 coupe is likely to rival BMW M4 model and hence could be sold at an approx amount of INR 1.25 crores. Mercedes is also expected to display the C Class coupe as well as GLC SUV at the Frankfurt Auto Show.
