Mercedes-Benz rolls out the 100,000th unit of the E-class

W124 E-class, the first offering from the German Automaker Mercedes-Benz, was introduced in 1995. And more than 20 years later, the Automaker has crossed the coveted 1 Lakh mark with the long-wheelbase E-class. Reportedly, the E-class is the 1,00,000th car to come out of the company’s India based production unit. In addition to the E-class, CLA, C-class, and S-class sedans, the premium luxury offering Maybach S 560 limousine is also locally assembled in the plant. The Pune production unit also churns out other segment models like GLA, GLC, GLE and GLS SUVs.

E-class is the leader of the Mercedes-Benz pack when it comes to sales. The last four years have seen record sales. During this period, the company sold a total of 50,000 units. And E-class has been the star performer for the company. Two major factor for this unprecedented growth is the increase in the production capacity includes:

Increased Production Capacity: Mercedes-Benz increased the production capacity of its Chakan, Pune based plant. The production capacity was doubled from 10000 to 20000 units in 2014.

Aggressive Marketing: Mercedes-Benz adopted a very aggressive and penetrating campaign that struck the right cord with premium car lovers. The brand’s name and a strong grasp of the Indian Customers helped a long way in achieving the 1 Lakh milestone.
