Mercedes Benz India has launched the multi-circuit lap record holder the AMG GT R along with its convertible version the AMG GT Roadster in India. The former is available on sale at Rs 2.23 crore (all India ex-showroom). While, the latter carries the price tag of INR 2.19 crore (all India ex-showroom).
The high-performance version of the AMG GT sports car, the AMG GT R has taken a spot in the top ranks at the Green Hell a.k.a the Nurburgring by breaking the lap record at the Buddh International Circuit by over 2 seconds. The fitment of the new moveable aero bits have not only boosted the car’s ability to stick the ground but also made its go-faster agile. These bits include a moveable floor and a new diffuser as well as the bespoke Michelins and rear wheel-steering assist also added to the package.
Beneath the front end, the Mercedes AMG GT R is equipped with a 4.0 litre twin-turbo V8 engine that has been electronically tuned to generate 578 bhp along with 699 Nm of torque. All the generated power transmitted to the rear wheels with the help of a seven-speed AMG speed shift transmission. A nine stage traction control along with all the luxury interior trimmings such as the leather seats, climate control, and touchscreen infotainment system, allows the man in action access car’s abilities at various stages.

The convertible version of the AMG GT is dubbed as the AMG GT Roadster. The car is all same as the ‘standard’ AMG GT but it will let you experience the wind as well as the warmth of the sun light in your hair. The use of carbon body in the car has helped to keep the weight of the super car in check. While, its convertible setup can easily open and close just in 11 seconds at the cruising speed of 50Kmph.
Other features on the car include the infotainment system, climate control and electrically adjustable seats. The car is of convertible nature that means an obvious equipment of the Mercedes AirScarf and a fixed mesh wind deflector.
Powering for the AMG GT Roadster comes from the same 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine of the standard GT. The motor propels out power of 489bhp that helps out in attaining the 0-100kmph sprint just in 3.9 seconds. The power dispatched to the rear wheel via a seven-speed AMG speed shift transmission. At this price sticker, the AMG GT Roadster compete with the Ferrari California and Porsche Turbo S Cabriolet in the segment.
