BMW i3 is the upcoming eco friendly electric car of luxury automobile manufacturer BMW. It is going to be produced under 'Project i' by the company and the production has started from this year. The car is also known as BMW Mega City Vehicle and its expected availability in the market is from November, 2013. i3 is a concept car which was unveiled in Frankfurt Motor Show in 2011.
BMW i3 is one of the most awaiting cars of this year. Clean design and attractive interiors along with electric power- train are the main plus points of the car. This small hatchback gives a luxury feel, there are more than 1 lakh waiting to test the car. BMW has developed Mini E, ActiveE, i8 and i3. These all electric vehicles have increased the rate of fuel economy. Its doors and space is comparatively larger than other concept vehicles by the company. Its weight is 1250kg and test drive results says that the car has a different drive feel which an electric car never had.
The car will come with three different driving modes as Eco Pro, Eco Pro+ and Comfort mode. These modes give different acceleration and driving range for operating the car. It has a range extender option which has 650cc power and two cylinders. It will be used as an emergency backup but not recommended for a long journey. You will have to wait for this new electric car by BMW till the last quarter of this year.
