New Toyota Century Unveiled

Toyota has revealed the latest, reworked luxury sedan which comes with the title of being the most famous Japan’s chauffeur-driven model.

It takes power from a 5.0-litre V8 engine complimented by an electric powertrain in order to provide a hybrid system generating a peak power of 430hp overall. The hybrid setup takes the place of a V12 engine of the previous version and is provided to generate 13.59kpl during the test cycle by the company. The company has not unveiled the performance models till now.

The company plans to sell out 50 units in a month in India, however, there is no information about official price marking till yet by the company. The Century is likely to come with a relevant premium as compared to the other Toyota products in the market for being the hand-built sedan. The badge of the luxury sedan alone takes 6 weeks to inscribe.

The new luxury sedan comes with safety features comprising adaptive cruise control, Safety Sense pack, automatic lights, road sign recognition, lane departure warning, and a pre-collision system.

When manufacturing the Century, soundproofing was the main concern, whereas the system to control vibration and engine noise has also been constructed.

The old Century has been introduced 21 years back and the new also uses conventional techniques in the construction and design.
When comparing the last model, the new sedan has got an improved wheelbase by 65mm to 3,090mm and it provides more space at the rear side. The floor is lowered to 15mm to make entry and exit easy. It is 110mm longer as compared to the Mercedes-Benz S-class. It measures 5,335mm in length, 1,505mm in height and 1,930mm in width.

The new Century along with rear left-side passenger has an 11.3-inch entertainment system, a 7-inch touchpad control module, 20 speakers, massage seat and the electric extending leg rest.
