Next Generation BMW X6 to be Launched on July, 23

The luxury car maker BMW is planning to launch the next generation model of X6 in India on July, 23. This model was revealed in 2014 at the Moscow Auto Show and now, it will be arriving to the Indian automobile market. After X1, X3 and X5, this is the fourth variant in the lineup of BMW X series. This model is produced under a joint development program with the third generation X5 at the company's South Carolina plant. This model will come with certain tweaked interior and exterior features. The first generation X6 was launched in India in the year 2009.

2015 BMW X6 Exterior

The next generation X6 borrows its platform from the X5 SUV, which is made up of high-strength steel, aluminium and thermoplastic. It weighs 40 kg lighter than the previous version of the X6. Like the previous model, this version also gets a 50:50 weight distribution along the rear and front axles. Coming to the dimensions, this vehicle is 4,909 mm long, 1,989 mm wide and 1,702 mm tall along with a wheelbase of 1,933 mm. The dimensions have been increased as compared to the previous version while the wheelbase has been toned down by 2mm.

2015 BMW X6 Interior

Under the hood, the 2015 X6 carries a 3 litre, in-line six-cylinder diesel engine which has the capacity to generate 313 HP of power and a torque of 630 Nm. Mated to this engine, there is an eight-speed automatic gearbox that transmits power to an AWD (All Wheel Drive) setup. The acceleration offered in this SUV will enable it to go upto 100 km/h in less than 6 seconds with the maximum speed of 240 km/h.

The next generation X6 is expected to be available in India in the xDrive40d variant. However, trims like xDrive30d and xDrive50i can also make their way to the Indian market. The updated X6 version will be reaching to the Indian shores as a CBU model.
