Next Generation Toyota Fortuner to be Debuted on July 17

Finally, the rumors regarding the next generation Toyota Fortuner's global debut have been turned into the confirmation as Toyota has proclaimed that this upcoming SUV will be coming out of the cover on July 17, 2015 in Thailand. The manufacturer will offer a plethora of updates that could be seen on the cosmetic parts of the vehicle. Apart from the redesigned furnishings, it will also get revamped powertrains as well as some additional features. Underpinned by the latest ladder frame chassis, this upgraded SUV will have FIRM (Frame with Integrated Rigidity Mechanism) technology in order to be safer and stiffer than its predecessor.

On the outside, it will receive a slim slat grille, new headlights, pronounced bonnet, retouched front bumper, chromed fog lights and a wraparound rear windscreen. Other features will stand as an automatic climate control, latest multifunctional steering wheel, optional leather upholstery, free standing infotainment display and 7 airbags for the top end variant. Under the hood, the renovated Toyota Fortuner will be powered by completely new GD diesel engines, a 2.4 litre and a 2.8 litre units.

Paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox, the former will be capable of producing an appreciable power of 160 bhp and an impressive torque of 400 Nm, while the latter clubbed with a 6-speed automatic transmission will be good for 177 bhp and 450 Nm. Notably, Toyota will offer 2WD and 4WD configurations on this forthcoming vehicle.

For the purpose of high level localization, the company will make the engines of its India bound model in Jigani, Karnataka. Expected to be priced between INR 20 Lac to INR 25 Lac, the next generation Toyota Fortuner will compete against the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, upcoming Ford Endeavour, Chevrolet Captiva and Hyundai Santa Fe.
