Nissan India Expected to Launch GT-R by 2015 End

For the past 12 months, the Japanese automaker Nissan, has been hinting about launching the GT-R model in India. And now, the buzz is that the company is all set to launch the model by the end of this year. The reason for the delay in this launch is reported to be the high maintenance nature of this sports car. It is a sophisticated vehicle and needs high octane fuel to run. Thus, a service infrastructure needs to be set up to provide the after-sale facilities. Moreover, the staff also needs to be efficiently trained and skilled for this job.

Mr Guillaume Sicard, President of Operations, Nissan India, was quoted as saying,“It is easy to launch a car, but what's the point if we cannot offer after-sales supports after we sold a car that would cost about 2 Crore.” Currently, the company has to send the technicians all the way from from Dubai to handle the servicing of GT-Rs owned by few customers in India.

So, the company is planning to provide a hassle-free maintenance service by setting up upgraded facilities with trained GT-R technicians. Even for performing a routine maintenance task, the mechanics have to undergo an intensive training for four months. After this training, the mechanics are qualified to be a GT-R technician. Each of the showrooms selling this model will be required to employ a trained technician.
