Nissan to Showcase Datsun Redi-Go at 2016 Delhi Auto Expo

After the premier of Renault Kwid in the month of May this year, Nissan is also going to introduce the hatchback Datsun Redi-Go. Both these models have been conceptualised under the Renault-Nissan alliance which share the same CMF-A (Common Module Family) platform. According to some recent reports, the hatchback Datsun Redi-Go, also known as the Datsun 12, will make its official debut at 2016 Auto Expo to be held in Delhi in February. The launch of this upcoming hatchback is expected to take place in the second half of the next year.

Apart from the common platform which these two models share, the powertrain configuration will also be shared among the two cars. Much like the Kwid, the Datsun hatchback will also be powered by an eight-litre, three cylinder petrol engine. This engine will be paired with a five-speed manual gearbox. Due to the use of similar mechanical configuration, the new Datsun model will be as much efficient as the Kwid in terms of fuel economy. However, the exterior and interior features will be totally different in both these models.

The price of this upcoming Datsun hatchback is expected to be less than that of Kwid. This is because 98% of this model will be manufactured in India. The Kwid model is priced at INR 3 Lacs to INR 4 Lacs. So, as a result of reduction, we can expect the new hatchback to be available at an appropriate price of INR 2.75 Lacs.

The production of the upcoming hatchback is still in progress. As a result, not much has been revealed about the interior of the car. We hope Nissan soon discloses more details about the model and puts an end to all the anticipation going on in the market.
