Paris Motor Show 2016: Maruti Suzuki Displays India-bound Ignis

Maruti Suzuki has exhibited its new compact crossover, Ignis at Paris Motor Show 2016. This crossover will be launched in India during this festive season, while for the rest of the global market it will be available from next year.

Maruti Suzuki Ignis was first globally introduced at the Tokyo Motor Show last year. And later the model made its India debut at Auto Expo in February 2016.

The Ignis model which is showcased at the Paris Motor Show features a 1.25-litre 4-cylinder K12 DualJet petrol engine, paired with SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) mild-hybrid technology. The engine is tuned to deliver a maximum power output of 91 PS with the combination of 118 Nm peak torque. The new engine is built to offer an improved fuel efficiency and with the additional SHVS technology, one can look forward to even better mileage.

Considering some reports, the India-bound variant of Maruti Suzuki Ignis will be launched with a 1.2-litre VTVT petrol engine and a multijet diesel engine. Both the engines will be mated to a 5-Speed manual transmission. Whereas, Maruti Suzuki’s AGS (Auto Gear Shift) gearbox could be introduced later for the petrol variant.

Inside, the car features a decent look and ample space. The new Ignis comes equipped with Harman’s Infotainment system along with the integrated navigation and connectivity features. This infotainment system also supports the Apple CarPlay and the voice recognition functionality.

There will be no change in the aesthetics of the Indian spec Ignis, it will be the same as the global model. When launched, it will go on sale through the company’s premium dealership, Nexa and will compete with the car in the segment like Mahindra KUV 100 and Ford EcoSport.
