Production at Maruti's Manesar and Gurgaon Plants Suspended Temporarily

It has been reported that a large fire broke at the air-conditioning kit supplier Subros Ltd’s Manesar plant on May 29, which let Maruti Suzuki to suspend its ongoing production at the Manesar and Gurugram plants. The fire was caused due to a short circuit. The production is said to be resumed after the Subros restores the affected premises and starts normal operation.

Subros Ltd is the known supplier and manufacturer of thermal products for automotive sector in India. It is operating with two manufacturing plants in India located in Noida and Manesar. It manufactures 1.5 million AC kits annually. It supplies around 50 percent of the total production to Maruti Suzuki.

Releasing a statement on the accident, Maruti Suzuki India states, “Owing to an unfortunate incident of a fire at the Manesar facilities of our supplier, M/s Subros Limited, on Sunday (May 29), supplies of components from that plant have been disrupted. As a consequence, Maruti Suzuki India will have to temporarily suspend manufacture of cars at its facilities in Manesar and Gurgaon, starting second half Monday (May 30). Subros Ltd and Maruti Suzuki are jointly assessing the extent of damage to essential equipment. We are also examining the options available to start supply of components from other facilities. Production will resume as soon as components become available.”

Subros is not limited to Maruti for the supplies but it also supplies products to other carmakers such as Renault-Nissan, Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Ashok Leyland, Force Motors

Other than Maruti, Subros also supplies to other passenger vehicle manufacturers such as Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Renault-Nissan and Force Motors.
