Production of Ford Figo Hatchback Stopped

According to a recent market report, Ford has put the production of its Figo hatchback model on hold. The report has revealed that the company is no longer sending new stock to the showrooms as there is a lot of unsold stock which needs to be cleared first. Lately, the sales have been dropped considerably which is evident from the fact that only 463 units of this model were sold in July. Eventually, the company has been planning to replace this hatchback model with a more updated trim. It has also declared about the launch of compact sedan named Figo Aspire on August,12.

The new version of Figo hatchback will be designed with most of the features borrowed from the upcoming Aspire. This means that this updated hatchback is also going to carry high-tech SYNC infotainment system along with Ford Applink, MyFord Dock and Ford MyKey. Apart from this, the safety features employed in this model might include- Anti-Lock Braking System, Electronic Brake-Force Distribution and airbags to prevent collision.

Moreover, under the hood, the same mechanical configuration will be found that is equipped in the Aspire. This motor contains either a 1.2 unit with 88 PS and 112 Nm output or a 1.5 litre unit delivering 112 PS and 136 Nm figures. Power is transmitted to the wheels with the help of a five-speed manual gearbox. Besides, the top spec trim will house an Automated Manual Transmission.

The launch of upcoming Aspire has been slated as August 12, whereas the launch date of updated hatchback model has not been disclosed yet. As of now, it is confirmed that Ford is not going to continue the production of the current Figo hatchback anymore owing to its poor performance. In the present situation, a new version of this model might help the company to recover the losses incurred.
