It seems that the “Go Electric” is becoming the motto of most of the automobile companies in the world. Recently concluded Paris Motor Show 2014 also held the launch of many hybrid electric cars in the world, among which some of the famous names were Tesla, Porsche, Mercedes-Benz and Lamborghini. Now, as the news has been confirmed over the launch of all-electric variant of Porsche Panamera sedan and Tesla Model S, SUV giant Range Rover has decided to compete against them by planning to launch a completely electric sedan or coupe car in the market very soon. However, nothing has been confirmed about it.
The details about the engine or battery that will be used in this car aren't out yet, but if this has to compete in the electric segment, then the aluminum based chassis seems the best option for this car. In body design, the car could be similar to the ongoing Jaguar XJ coupe or the saloon as well. There could be two or electric motors for transmitting power to the front and rear wheels separately or a 4WD system couldn't be ruled out of the equation as well.
Well, the project looks good to me and if given the green light for the production, then we could definitely witness a good competition among the cars in the much attention needed electric cars segment.
