Renault Kaptur Production-ready Model Imported to India For Test

According to a recent report, Renault has imported the Upcoming Renault Kaptur model to India for the testing purpose. The pre-production Kaptur has been imported from Russia under the code name HHA. The SUV is expected to be launched in the Indian market by October 2017.

The Renault Kaptur is said to be highly localized in India as it is based on the Renault Duster’s M0 platform. This can also help the automaker to price the car competitively in India after the launch takes place.

The exterior is quite similar to the Europe-spec Renault Captur, otherwise there shall be some minor differences in terms of dimensions and styling. The prototype that has been imported in India measures 4,333 mm in length, 1,813 mm in width and 1,613 mm in height. It comes with a wide 2,674 mm-long wheelbase, which is said to be good for Indian terrains. The interior offers a boot space of 387 litre, which can be further extended to 1,200 liters by folding the rear seats in 60:40 split.

Mechanically, the Russian-spec Renault Kaptur offers two petrol engine options: 114 hp 1.6L and 143 hp 2.0L four cylinder engines. In Indian context, the model could be offered with the 1.6L petrol engine and another one sharing from the duster i.e. 110PS K9K 1.5L diesel engine.
