Renault Kwid 1.0L Specifications Revealed ahead of Launch on August 22

An entry level car really makes sense to the Indian auto segment owing to an affordable price and deal with the much congested roads. With the continuously increasing demand of small hatchbacks in the country, Renault has earlier rumored to work upon a new and powerful version of its Kwid that is now finally ready to hit the ground. While the launch is scheduled for August 22, the details have already been released by the company including both inside and out.

If you remember, the 1.0-litre Kwid made its first public debut at the 2016 Auto Expo, which was concluded in February and garnered much positive reviews. As of now, the engine will be armed with only two of its variants - the RXT and the RXT(O). The specifications of the motor includes a 999cc, three cylinder DOHC unit that is tuned to fire out 68 PS of power at 5500 rpm and 91 Nm of torque. Only a 5-speed manual transmission will be mated to the engine at first, while automatic gearbox will join the group near in future.



Having this new mechanism, it is claimed to return 23.01 kmpl of mileage against the 25.17 kmpl of the regular one. Furthermore, some cosmetic changes have also been made to discriminate the unit from others. It includes, dual-toned grey colored ORVMs, designer decorative stickers on the doors, and the “SCe” named badge on the boot lid. Moreover, it will be available in five different exterior colors namely, Ice Cool White, Fiery Red, Moonlight Silver, Planet Grey, and Outback Bronze.



As soon as you enter the cabin, you will be welcomed by the same two tone dashboard with slight changes at the centre and side AC vents that are furnished with chrome inserts, while the instrument cluster is identical to the previous one. Furthermore, the cabin is also equipped with features like touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, Bluetooth audio streaming, USB and Aux-in facility, two front speakers, and front power window.



For safety, the Kwid 1.0L gets remote keyless entry with central locking system, high mount stop lamp, engine immobiliser, and seat belt for both front and rear occupants. Some optional features are also there such as a drive side airbag and the pro-sense front seat belt function. It is obvious to get hiked in its price that could lie between INR 40,000 and INR 50,000. After launched, it will go up against the likes of rivals Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 and the Hyundai i10.
