Renault Kwid 1.0L Bookings Open; Expected Launch this Month

In accordance with the earlier reports, Renault India has planned to launch its premium hatch Kwid 1.0L in the vehicular market this month or in September. Before the official launch, some of the automaker’s dealerships have begun taking bookings for the car in advance. While we have witnessed the model performing test rounds on public roads many times, details about the launch weren’t confirmed. Now, it has been said that Renault will introduce the variant in question by the end of this month.

Reports also suggest that a Renault dealership in Chennai has discarded accepting bookings for Kwid 1.0L for now. All the bookings are unofficial, for which the outlets affirmed the customers to deliver the product by October this year.

We have heard about an AMT variant as well, which is under process and anticipated to get a launch date in a due course of time. Mechanically, the French automobile colossal haven’t revealed the technical stuff of the said car, albeit, the 1.0L three-cylinder SCe trim is what we are expecting, which could run the Kwid 1.0L at 65-70HP. The mileage delivered would be a bit less than the 0.8L, which is noted to be an average of 25.17 km/l . Also, the engine will be mated to a traditional five-speed manual unit gearbox.

Aesthetically, the exterior and interior will be a replica of its less-performer sibling. Although, the noticeable update we got is the inclusion of optional dual airbags while the list of features will include ABS as an option as well. Coming over to the safety norms in 2017, Renault has assured that Kwid will far exceed them.

Once launched, the 2017 Renault Kwid 1.0L would cost approximately INR 4 lakh (Ex-Showroom) and will hit on the entry-level hatchbacks such as Maruti Suzuki Alto K10, the Tata Tiago, and the Hyundai Eon.
