Skoda Kamiq SUV Spotted In China

Skoda Auto is about to broad up the SUV series internationally and is ready to introduce new compact Sedan in China. The images of the Skoda Kamiq compact SUV have surfaced before the launch. The latest model will compete against the Hyundai Creta in the range and will be placed below the Karoo in the international market. For now, the Skoda Kamiq is destined for China, but we expect it to reach other markets later this launch.

It measures 1593 mm in height, and 4390 mm in length, 4390 mm in length, showing some similarity with the Rapid sedan. The wheelbase is of 2610 mm. Leaked images show that it has a similarity with a mini-Kodiaq. It takes updates over the Kamiq's appearance with the inclusion of the sloping bonnet, the characteristic moustache grille, wraparound LED taillights, and strong shoulder-line extending to the tailgate.

Coming to the cabin, leaked images show to have 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system along with air vents on either side. Just like the Indian variant, the three-spoke steering wheel obtains a multi-function unit. It also gets a manual transmission and a twin-pod instrument console.

In China, the Skoda Kamiq compact SUV is likely to power by a 1.5-litre petrol engine generating 110 bhp. We are not sure about the automatic transmission, but a DSG may be attached to it. The 2018 Skoda Kamiq is likely to come with a price tag of 90 Yuan (approximately Rs. 9.35 lakh). The new SUV is expected to be manufactured locally in the Shanghai-VW venture.

Concerning the craze for SUVs in India, the Skoda Kamiq will be suitable for India as well. The company is expected to showcase this new compact SUV at the time of Beijing Auto Show 2018, which starts on April 25.
