Skoda Launches Octavia RS in India at INR 24.62 Lakh

The much-awaited Octavia RS from Skoda has ultimately been Introduced in Indian lineup. The most powerful car from the company yet carries an aggressive price sticker of INR at 24.62 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The standard variant under the same moniker is priced in the vicinity of INR 15.49 lakh to INR 22.90 lakh, ex-showroom. The first of its kind model, the

new Octavia RS performance sedan has no competitor in the market right now. The pre bookings for the new Skoda Octavia RS has already started earlier this month at the token amount of Rs. 50,000. The model has already spotted at several Skoda dealerships. While the deliveries for the same are expected to commence later this month.

Under the hood, new Skoda Octavia RS will be equipped with the company's tried and tested 2.0 TSI turbocharged petrol engine. The engine will be in connection with a 6-speed DSG automatic transmission for delivering power to the wheels. In the global market, the same engine trim is provided with a 6-speed manual gearbox, but Indian market will not receive the manual gearbox.

Only the 2-litre petrol engine is provided in India that churns out power output encompassing the maximum power of 230 bhp and a peak torque of 350 Nm. Owing to this much power and torque the Octavia RS can complete 0-100 kmph sprint in 6.8 seconds and can attain electronically limited top speed of 250 kmph.

Apparently, the Skoda Octavia RS shares several similarities with the standard Octavia sedan. At front fascia, the Skoda Octavia RS gets a black radiator grille with the vRS badging and chrome work. The grille is adjacent to the popular quad-LED headlamp setup that has been borrowed from the outgoing model. Other than this, the Skoda Octavia RS gets a new bumper that incorporates a massive three-piece air intake for seamless air flow with horizontal LED foglamps on either sides. The 19-inch alloy wheels will be shod with performance-oriented tyres.

If the interior is concerned, the Skoda Octavia RS will draw similar sporty character with the equipments such as a multi-functional flat-bottom steering wheel with paddle shifters, black leather/fabric combination seats with contrast stitching, ambient lighting, touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, MirrorLink and driver assist system among others.

Furthermore, a revised suspension setup and a wider rear track are also in Skoda Octavia vRS newly added attributes. The DCC (dynamic chassis control) is a standard fitment that offers the required agility to the car.

Other launch from Skoda house include the Monte Carlo Edition of the Rapid launched recently and the upcoming Kodiaq SUV which will the hit the dealerships sometimes by the end of the year. The Octavia RS emergence will help the carmaker to attract a new range of audience.
