Spotted: 2017 Suzuki Swift Sport Edition in Europe

A near production unit of what is believed to be the upcoming 2017 Suzuki Swift Sport has been spied undergoing tests in a sunny weather of Southern Europe. Even after being caught in a heavily camouflaged body, it can be seen clearly that the new variant has got some prominent changes over its design. Well, there are a lot of rumours about its arrival in the auto world, which could take place early next year, while the public debut can be made at the forthcoming 2016 Paris Motor Show that is due for the first two weeks of October.

Firstly, the new generation Swift houses more aggressive front end, which is dominated by the revamped headlights, front grille and larger air intakes. Further, it also garners wider wheels, roof mounted spoiler and bigger exhaust pipes on each side. If you look at  the door handles on the test mule affixed near to the C-pillars, they give similar glimpse to those found on the leaked images once surfaced online back in March this year.

It is not confirmed yet, but some media reports are claiming that the 2017 model will share a 1.4-litre turbocharged engine with Vitara SUV instead of using its naturally aspirated 1.6-litre unit. While the older is capable of generating 136 bhp of power with 160 Nm of torque, the fresh motor can make out 140 hp and 220 Nm of torque. Well, there isn’t much difference in power, however, the new turbocharger engine will enable the car to churn out the maximum power at low rpm range.

Meanwhile, the standard Swift is expected to be powered by a newly designed 1.0-litre BoosterJet turbo engine, which is also underpinning the recently launched Baleno hatchback in Australia. Thanks to Motor1, which let us show the spyshots of the unit. Some images of the said unit was also released online along with few interior snap shots. As you can see in the picture above, the cabin sports a three spoke flat bottom steering wheel and a touchscreen display which is situated just above the three rotary knobs to operate ventilation and AC.
