Tata Motors Registers 18 Percent Growth in Sales in September 2017

The month of September, the commencement of festive season has always been a good month for the manufacturers in the Indian automotive industry. As, it is the time when in the lieu of great deals, offers and discounts one of the largest share of world’s population rush to own belongings needed in their life.

The same has been witnessed in our automotive sector as the carmakers earned great hike in their sales figures. For example, Honda Cars India Ltd. recorded a rise of 21 percent in sales this said month. Following the same, another auto major, Tata Motors which is a home-grown carmaker registered a significant increase of 18 percent with retail of 17,286 units passenger vehicles as against the corresponding month last year. Tata Tiago, Tigor and the Hexa, the introduction of these next generation models is the reason behind these excellent sales figures.

On the other hand, the indexed hike in cumulative sum of domestic passenger and commercial vehicle sales is 53,365 units that is 25 percent as against the same period last year. While, in April-September 2017, Tata Motors generated 12 percent more volume with 72,665 sold units in cumulative domestic passenger and commercial vehicles segment.

Defining the same, Mayank Pareek, President, Passenger Vehicles Business Unit, Tata Motors, said,” With a growth of 18 per cent in September 2017, we have recorded highest sales since November 2012, backed by our strong portfolio of new generation products like TIAGO, HEXA and TIGOR. Our recently launched lifestyle SUV- NEXON has received an encouraging response across markets and we hope to further expand our addressable market. With the on-going festive season, the consumer sentiment continues to remain positive and are optimistic of maintaining this positive trend with robust growth buoyed by the aspirational values we are offering customers.”

Furthermore, Tata Motors is also looking forward to supply a huge volume of 10,000 electric vehicles as ordered from EESL. Speaking about this new project, Guenter Butschek, CEO and MD, Tata Motors said, “Tata Motors is extremely proud to partner with the Government of India in its journey to facilitate faster adoption of electric vehicles and to build a sustainable India. Tata Motors has been collaboratively working to develop electric powertrain technology for its selected products. EESL tender provided us the opportunity to participate in boosting e-mobility in the country, at the same time accelerate our efforts to offer full range of electric vehicles to the Indian consumers.”
