Tata Motors to Launch Xenon Facelift on January 3

Earlier spied testing on Mumbai-Pune Express highway, the Tata Xenon Facelift is all set to be launched in India on January 3, 2017. According to the reports, the upcoming version of the pick-up will be sold under the nameplate of Xenon Yodha. Akshay Kumar, Indian cinema's original khiladi, who has been appointed as the new brand ambassador of Tata Motors' Commercial Vehicle Division, will attend the launch event of the model that would be held in Mumbai. The update, however, seems to be introduced for freshening up the car’s ageing looks so that it can take on the likes of Mahindra Scorpio Gateway and Isuzu D-Max Cross, currently ruling the segment.

A few spy shots of the facelifted Xenon has already touched online giving us a sneak peek of what the upcoming unit could house under its fleet. Aesthetically, the new Xenon Yodha house a redesigned front bumper, all-new front grille with chrome applique and updated tail lamp clusters. Inside the cabin, it is believed that the changes will be kept minimal. The barely changes would be seen in the form of an updated infotainment system.

On the mechanical front, the new Xenon pickup would get a new Varicor 400 engine beneath its hood. This is the same engine which currently powers the Safari Storme SUV and will be followed by the soon to be launched Hexa crossover. If the assumption comes out to be true, the 2017 Xenon will be powered by a 2.2-litre Varicor engine that can make run the unit with a power of 156 PS with 400 Nm of torque. Transmission duties would be taken care of by a new six-speed manual gearbox, while 4WD would be offered as an option. When it comes to price, it will cost INR 20,000 to INR 30,000 more against to ongoing model which is available at the price of INR 9.96 lakh (Ex-showroom).
